Over the last 10 years, we have aimed to encourage all who use our building to be more aware of conservation issues and the need to recycle. We have recently installed solar panels on our roof. Other activities include:

  • Woodland clearing and coppicing;
  • Encouraging the use of bicycles instead of cars by providing a bicycle rack in our car park;
  • Litter-clearing around the town.

We have also raised funds for:

  • Clean water to a remote village among the Masai in Kenya;
  • Planting olive trees in Palestine;
  • Small loans to young farmers in Cameroon;
  • Skills training for young people in Thirukkovil, a remote village on the east coast of Sri Lanka.

The stained glass window in our Quiet Room was designed by a local artist and we have brought our concern for the environment into our worship and study groups.

We are one of three churches in the UK to receive three awards from 'Churches Together'. The third of these was presented by the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead on 4 December 2011.
